Escaperoom [docentenhandleiding]

Object Orientation Pressure Cooker

What — This methodology fits research projects that use a concrete “surprising” object as the starting point of “more complex” inquiry. The methodology invites students: to make an inventory of different perspectives to study a central object, and understand what knowledge these perspectives will yield about particular elements of their research project topic; to understand the relations/connections between these various disciplinary perspectives and elements, and; to make an informed decision about which perspectives and elements to pursue and which ones to leave out For whom – The format can be used (and adjusted) for a seminar/working group of students (bachelor 3, honours and ma/rma students) as well as educational developers or teachers. Why – Guided training in object orientation supports the appreciation of multi-perspectivity (identity dimension and/or social-interactive dimension of interdisciplinary learning) which aids in grasping defining elements of various disciplines (cognitive dimension). How long—Depending on the context, it can be done as a quick starter or as a class-filling activity. In-class activities take up to two and a half hours. Preparation at home takes around two hours. Digital replicas of clay tablets from the VU special collections

This collection consists of 16 digitized clay tablets from the VU special collections, as well as some other 3D printed objects that were created over the last few years. The clay tablets have been 3D scanned for you to use in education, both digitally and physically. Every publication below includes: A picture of the clay tablet. A 3D model that can be used digitally and can be 3D printed. Technical instructions for 3D printing the model. Information on the original clay tablet and a link to the original object in the VU image base. Some of the digitized clay tablets are linked to a lesson plan on how to use them in higher and secondary education. If this is the case, the publication of that digitized clay tablet will include a link to that lesson plan. Moreover, the links underneath lead you to an information page on the possibilities for 3D printing at the VU, the VU image base, in which the original clay tablets are metadated and a practical outreach about the 3D scanning process.

Research Data Management: Personal data and anonymization

Personal data Many researchers process (collect/study/store/share) personal data when conducting their research. Anonymisation and pseudonymisation Applying anonymizing and pseudonymizing techniques is a measure you must take to protect the privacy of research respondents. Definitions Informing participants Another very important measure is to be transparent with your research participants about which personal data you plan to process (collect/study/store/share) for which reason and at what point you will anonymize the data. Cards Against Pedagogy

This card game is designed as a fun and interactive way of getting teaching staff to know each other while reflecting on different elements of their teaching. It is based upon the popular game, Cards Against Humanity, but this particular version can be used as an effective professional development activity because at the end of each round of the game, participants must discuss their answers to a reflection question. The reflection questions focus, for example, on their educational philosophy, their challenges, their growth as an educator or their achievements so far. This is a print and play version of this game, ideal for groups of 3 to 6 people with additional blank cards provided for you to make your own, should you wish.
