Library Essentials cursus VU Universiteitsbibliotheek

Library Essentials is een introductiecursus voor nieuwe medewerkers van de VU Universiteitsbibliotheek. De cursus biedt een laagdrempelige kennismaking met de organisatie, de verschillende afdelingen en de dienstverlening en expertise binnen de UB. De onderdelen van deze publicatie bevatten zowel inhoudelijke materialen van de cursus als begeleidende documenten die een beeld geven van de opzet van een dergelijke cursus. Ze kunnen gebruikt worden ter inspiratie voor het opzetten van een soortgelijke cursus bij andere instellingen. De levende bibliotheek - verhalen uit de collecties van de Erasmus Universiteitsbibliotheek

In de 110 jaar sinds de eerste oprichting van wat we nu kennen als de Erasmus Universiteit Rotterdam heeft de universiteitsbibliotheek vele werken verzameld. Deze werken, de collecties waar ze deel van uitmaken, laten zien hoe een Handels-Hoogeschool (1913) evolueerde naar een toonaangevende universiteit, waar ruimte is voor verdieping, groei en verbinding. In "De Levende Bibliotheek. Verhalen uit de collecties van de Erasmus Universiteit Rotterdam" worden enkele van onze meest bijzondere of interessante collecties uitgelicht, met daarbij speciale aandacht voor de verhalen die zij vertellen. De uitvinding van het schrift in Mesopotamië

Dit lesmateriaal bestaat uit een volledige powerpointpresentatie De uitvinding van het schrift in Mesopotamië met een uitgebreide docentenhandleiding. Het is bedoeld voor leerlingen van klas 1 t/m 4 binnen de vakken Geschiedenis, Grieks en Latijn (geschikt voor MAVO, HAVO en VWO/Gymnasium). Leerlingen onderzoeken hoe het Mesopotamische spijkerschrift is ontstaan en welke rol schrift speelde in handel, administratie en stedelijke ontwikkeling. Door te werken met online 3D modellen of fysieke 3D prints leren zij hoe kleitabletten eruitzagen, welke typen teksten erop voorkwamen en hoe vorm en lay-out samenhangen met het soort tekst. De les biedt bovendien een waardevolle verbreding van het oudheidcurriculum: door voorbij Griekenland en Rome te kijken, ontdekken leerlingen dat innovatie en schriftcultuur ook buiten het westerse narratief een rijke geschiedenis hebben. De presentatie bestaat uit drie delen; deel 3 is optioneel. De docentenhandleiding bevat per slide een toelichting en duidelijke instructies voor het werken met de 3D modellen tijdens het groepswerk in deel 2. De slides kun je direct gebruiken of aanpassen aan jouw onderwijscontext. Voor deel 2 kun je kiezen tussen de gratis online 3D modellen of fysieke 3D prints (gratis te leen via de Universiteitsbibliotheek VU). Voor deel 1 en 2 samen is minimaal één lesuur nodig; deel 3 duurt circa 10-15 minuten.

Object Based Teaching and Learning

Library collections don't just consist of (online) articles and books. At the University Library of the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, we possess a wealth of special collections, from academic heritage to maps and globes. The objects from these collections are used in teaching and research. Through technology, such as 3D scanning and printing, we can present these objects even more vividly to education. For example, students will be able to pass replicas of ancient clay tablets through their hands. In addition, at the VU, numerous other models have been 3D printed and used in educational contexts in recent years. This publication encompasses a selection of the clay tablets of the VU special collections that were digitized as part of the project Digital Impressions, as well as other 3D printed objects, and a collection of educational resources for teaching with objects. Educational resources for Object Based Teaching and Learning

This collection consists of several educational resources pertaining to teaching with objects. These resources aim to support you in getting started with the numerous ways that objects can be implemented in education and to inspire you in creating your own version of these lesson plans. Every publication below includes documents with instructions and (a link to) the specific object that is used in the lesson plan. Some of the educational resources are linked to a digitized clay tablet. If this is the case, the publication of that resource will include a link to that digitized clay tablet. Moreover, the links & downloads underneath present you with a guide that presents several practical methods of Object Based Teaching and Learning (OBTL) linked to the learning objectives to which they cater. The guide includes numerous links to articles and case studies. In addition, you’ll find some information pages on OBTL as a didactical theory and its implementation at the VU.

Digital replicas of clay tablets from the VU special collections

This collection consists of 16 digitized clay tablets from the VU special collections, as well as some other 3D printed objects that were created over the last few years. The clay tablets have been 3D scanned for you to use in education, both digitally and physically. Every publication below includes: A picture of the clay tablet. A 3D model that can be used digitally and can be 3D printed. Technical instructions for 3D printing the model. Information on the original clay tablet and a link to the original object in the VU image base. Some of the digitized clay tablets are linked to a lesson plan on how to use them in higher and secondary education. If this is the case, the publication of that digitized clay tablet will include a link to that lesson plan. Moreover, the links underneath lead you to an information page on the possibilities for 3D printing at the VU, the VU image base, in which the original clay tablets are metadated and a practical outreach about the 3D scanning process.

Over lezen en leesplezier

Na een interactieve rondleiding door de tentoonstelling over de ontwikkeling van het leesonderwijs, gaan de studenten aan de slag met competenties rondom het thema leesbevordering. Waarom is lezen onmisbaar? Hoe draagt lezen bij tot persoonlijke groei? Wat is het belang van tekstbegrip en wat zijn de daarmee samenhangende deelvaardigheden? De studenten leren op welke manier ze het leesonderwijs kunnen versterken en gaan zelf aan de slag om de opgedane kennis te verwerken in een eigen les.

Zin in Zorg lesmodules

Lesprogramma voor zorgopleidingen over inspiratie, zingeving en ethiek. Wat is goede zorg? Hoe stem ik me af op deze zorgvrager? Wat is voor mij van waarde in mijn werk? Thema’s als inspiratie, zingeving en ethiek zijn van wezenlijk belang bij de beroepsuitoefening van zorgverleners. Toch zijn deze onderwerpen niet voor iedereen eenvoudig te bespreken. Reliëf ontwikkelde daarom de Zin in Zorg lesmodules voor opleidingen in de zorgsector, ter inspiratie en verdieping.
