Adaptive Expertise Assessment

Amateur Craft as Method-in-the-Making:

This research output documents a pandemic-era experiment in which academic researchers used knitting to record and reflect on their digital screen time, exploring craft as a critical research method and a tool for data sensitisation, feminist activism, and embodied knowledge making. Project Overview: A group of academics and amateur knitters from Maastricht University and partner institutions met online during 2020–2021, using knitting to document their own screen time over a week of lockdown. Their creative outputs—a collection of individually knitted rectangles—were later assembled as a tactile "knitted book" to display in arts and crafts contexts, as well as academic contexts. The project linked technofeminist thinking, craftivism, and artistic research practices, aiming to make visible both quantitative and qualitative aspects of technology use during social isolation. Main Topics and Learning Objectives: • Explore how amateur craftwork (knitting) can act as a research method to sensitise and interpret personal data. • Engage with concepts from technofeminism and critical craft studies to understand the role of tactile, embodied methodologies. • Foster social connection, experimentation, and reflection on digital dependency during the COVID-19 lockdown. • Develop awareness of how materials, technique, and individual interpretation shape both method and outcome in collaborative research. Audience: This work suits students, educators, and researchers interested in qualitative and artistic research methods, feminist theory, science and technology studies (STS), and creative digital-literacy pedagogies. It models interdisciplinary practice and encourages engagement with data, methodology, and making as interconnected experiential processes. Authors and Licensing: Authors: Denise Petzold (first and corresponding author), Laura Barendregt, Ruth Benschop, Anna Harris, Laudy van den Heuvel, Bernike Pasveer, Veerle Spronck, Sally Wyatt, affiliated with Maastricht University, TU Delft, Zuyd University of Applied Sciences, and HKU University of Arts Utrecht. The text is suitable for publication in open educational repositories and supports open, collaborative engagement with academic craftwork. The pictures of the digitised version of the book were taken by Eric Bleize. Week 4: Creating an Implementation Plan

Around an engaging video, a lesson has been built with specific learning objectives, activities, and supporting materials for students. The focus is on a key phase in the case-solving cycle: turning strategy into action through effective implementation. The instructors introduce a six-step framework that guides students in building a clear, realistic plan to bring strategic solutions to life. From setting SMART goals and allocating resources (using the MMM framework) to creating timelines, assigning responsibilities, and assessing risks, this lesson shows how to structure implementation at different levels. Using a case example, students see how thoughtful planning ensures feasibility and alignment across business functions. By the end of the lesson, students are equipped to translate ideas into impact with a well-structured roadmap.

Systematic review as a research method

A systematic review is a research method used to answer a very specific research question. Scoping reviews ask broader questions such as “What is already known about certain practices/theories etc.?” In this workshop you will learn more about: • Different types of reviews • Phases and stages of a review • Tools for your review process. Who can attend? • (External) PhD candidates or researchers at the Nijmegen School of Management who are planning to conduct a literature review. How can you prepare for the workshop? • Search for systematic reviews on your own research topic. Select at least one systematic review and one other type of review. • Read the method section of the articles you have found. Use the PRISMA checklist to evaluate on the authors' method. What items of the method are according to PRISMA, and which items are you missing? You're also invited to take a look at the workshop "Efficient and complete literature searches for researchers" It'll give you a great foundation before moving on to the workshop about systematic review as a research method. NOTE This comprehensive workshop was given at the Radboud University, School of Management in October and November 2024. It is shared here as inspiration and guidance for PhD candidates who are struggling to set up a good systematic review in order to find relevant literature.

RElastiCity: een stedelijk veerkrachtig spel

NOTE: This is the Dutch version of RElastiCity: An urban resilience game. It includes showcases of actual use in real world settings (including in the Healthcare Domain). For the English version of the game, please see the related materials.
