Systems Thinking Pressure Cooker

What – This pressure cooker is an introduction to systems thinking. This pressure cooker can be used to quickly familiarize a group of people with what the characteristics of a system are and have them experience various examples of using systems thinking to explore a topic or question. For whom – The format can be used (and adjusted) for a team of teachers that are not yet familiar with systems thinking, as well as a group of students (all levels; any group size). Why – Guided training in integration of systems thinking in a research project. How long – Approximately 2-2,5 hours in class and a 10 minutes pre-class video.

Surveying and Mapping

This book provides an introduction, at academic level, into the field of surveying and mapping. The book has been compiled based on hand-outs and readers written for the third-year course Surveying and Mapping, in the bachelor program Civil Engineering at Delft University of Technology. This book covers a wide range of measurement techniques, from land surveying, GPS/GNSS and remote sensing to the associated data processing, the underlying coordinate reference systems, as well as the analysis and visualization of the acquired geospatial information.

Syllabus Political Epistemology (master course, PPE master)

This is a syllabus for the course Political Epistemology – Knowledge and in Markets and Democracy from the PPE master of Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Groningen. It contains the course structure and assigned readings for the 8 week course. The course summary reads as follows: We live in societies marked by the interplay of capitalist markets and democratic political structures. Both markets and democracies are mechanisms of social coordination in which the aggregation of knowledge plays an important role. But what is knowledge in the first place? Does it make sense to refer to notions of “truth” or “facts” in political contexts? And how does the use of knowledge work in different social spheres? While markets aggregate certain forms of knowledge through the price mechanism, democracies attempt to do so through deliberation and voting. What are the strengths and weaknesses of these mechanisms, and how well do they work for different forms of knowledge? What difference does it make that we live in a “digital age”? And last but not least: how do the ways in which societies deal with knowledge influence the delicate interplay between capitalism and democracy?

Binnen de projecten Pasemeco en Edupal is onderwijsmateriaal gemaakt en verzameld op het gebied van palliatieve zorg in de basisopleiding. Structures involved in involuntary movements are shown on models, in animations, and on gross coronal and axial sections. Diagrams show the cortex-to-cortex loop and the nigrostriatal pathway. The direct and indirect pathways are shown. The direct pathway facilitates movement while the indirect pathway inhibits movement on the opposite side of the body. Clinical videos of two diseases, Parkinson's and Huntington's, are examples of interruption of the balance between excitation and inhibition in these pathways.
