Façade EPD
In this lecture, Janneke Verker-Evers, Sustainability Leader at Scheldebouw (Permasteelisa Group), discusses the environmental impact of customised façades and the process of creating Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs). Learners will gain insight into the challenges of compiling a lifecycle analysis for unitised façades, considering factors like material types, manufacturing processes, transportation, and installation. The lecture also covers how Permasteelisa Group uses early-stage EPDs to optimize façade designs by reducing materials, comparing options, and selecting low-carbon suppliers. The focus is on improving embodied carbon in future designs by making informed decisions from the outset of a project. Additionally, the EPD for the Curtain Wall FT01A of the "n2" building in London is available as supplementary material at the link shared below. The video was produced by the Open GLASSroom project, in collaboration with Permasteelisa Group and the NewMedia Centre at TU Delft.
