Interdisciplinary Explorations of Neuroscience

This interactive online textbook is accessible to anyone interested in the brain. It is specifically targeted to students and instructors of undergraduate neuroscience or biopsychology courses. It encourages an active exploration of the intersection of neuroscience with other disciplines through a large number of activities, demonstrations, reflection prompts, and critical thinking questions. The book complements material presented in more conventional neuroscience or biopsychology textbooks, portions of which are linked to throughout this text.

A journey from closed to open: open educational resources for quality teaching and education

Presentation for the Teaching Academy Groningen education festival, where academic information specialists from the University Library and a teacher from the University College Groningen discuss the use of OER in teaching. The slides tackle subjects such as what OER are, OER's relation to copyright, why OER could/should be used, how OER can be used in teaching (adopt & adapt, open pedagogy, creating and sharing OER), and the support services of the University Library. The presentation was scheduled as a back-and-forth between the academic information specialists and the teacher.

Syllabus Biopsychology Signature project

The syllabus used for the University College Groningen course Biopsychology in Spring 2021. This syllabus outlines the general lesson plan for the course, but focuses most heavily on the main assessment method used in the course: the Signature project. For this project, students worked together in small teams to create an interdisciplinary webpage on a Biopsychology topic. These resulting research-based, peer-reviewed webpages cover a range of topics, and contain active learning assignments for others to use. The webpages were tied together to create another open educational resource, found related to this syllabus. The syllabus outlines in detail how the project was created and graded, and can be used as inspiration for others to create their own active learning assignment which results in the creation of open educational resource.
