Augmedicine: Ultrasound

Het begrijpen van de menselijke anatomie in 3 dimensies is een uitdaging voor studenten. Er staat echter druk op het snijzaalonderwijs, de traditionele leermethode. Echografie zou een alternatieve en mogelijk zelfs superieure manier kunnen zijn om 3D anatomie te leren. Als echografie wordt ingezet tijdens de studie geneeskunde vergroot dit niet alleen de (3D) anatomische kennis, maar ook de kwaliteit van het lichamelijk onderzoek en begrip van het levende menselijk lichaam. Tijdens dit project ontwikkelen en implementeren we een onderwijsmodule waarmee studenten, met behulp van Augmented Reality, werken aan hun 3D anatomische kennis en echografie kunnen leren.

Hoi Polloi Logoi

Met Hoi Polloi Logoi breng je je beheersing van de Griekse werkwoordsvormen op topniveau. Verzamel munten door vormen te benoemen en zelf vormen te maken. Zodra je genoeg munten hebt, kun je mythische monsters vrijspelen! Pas ieder spel naar eigen wens aan en kies welke tijd, aspect, diathese en modus je wilt oefenen. Ook kun je met of zonder accenten spelen. Het niveau van het spel groeit mee met je eigen vaardigheid. Onze dank gaat uit naar de Classical Association of Middle, West, and South (CAMWS Faculty-Undergraduate Collaborative Reseach Grant), de Loeb Classical Library Foundation (LCLF Fellowship), en de Universiteit van Winnipeg, voor hun onmisbare steun. Hoi Polloi Logoi is gebaseerd op de ‘Hoplite Challenge Cup’, een (niet-digitaal) spel dat ontworpen is door dr. Hardy Hansen en dr. Gerald Quinn ten behoeve van het Griekse onderricht aan de City University of New York (CUNY). We zijn dr. Hansen dankbaar voor zijn aanmoediging en advies in de beginfase van ons project.

Apple vs. FBI – the encrypted phone (student take-home assignment)

At the Inland Regional Center in San Bernardino, California a major terrorist attack happened at December 2nd 2015. A husband and wife opened fire on a mass and attempted bombing. According to the FBI, both suspects practiced Islam and had been “radicalized”. FBI declared the incident a terrorist attack. The investigators saw an opportunity to collect evidence against the perpetrators and to identify their network: one of the suspects was employed by the government, which was therefore in possession of the suspect’s iPhone 5C. The phone was encrypted but FBI assumed that valuable data would be found inside it which would help them identify other terrorist suspects and their future attacks.

Risicofactoren binnen de varkenshouderij

Binnen de varkenshouderij worden werkzaamheden uitgevoerd die de nodige risico's met zich meebrengen. Om de leerlingen zich hiervan bewust te maken is deze methode gemaakt. In deze methode wordt aandacht besteed aan de risicofactoren binnen de varkenshouderij bij de machines en gebouwen, de verzorging van varkens, overige en stof. De Arbo-catalogus, te vinden op www.agroarbo.nl, is hierbij een handig hulpmiddel. De module is verdeeld in drie lessen. In de eerste les maken de leerlingen kennis met de varkenshouderij, in les twee leren de leerlingen hoe ze risicovolle situaties kunnen herkennnen en les drie gaat over het bedenken van oplossingen voor risicovolle situaties. De lessen kunnen gemakkelijk aan de doelgroep worden aangepast. Bepaalde opdrachten kunnen uitgebreid, verkleind of weggelaten worden.
