The Delft Method for System Dynamics - Modelling Exercises

These modelling exercises are part of the TU Delft Open textbook "The Delft Method for System Dynamics". The Delft Method for System Dynamics (SD) is a proven method of learning basic System Dynamics. The method focusses on learning by doing: first you try to make an exercise, and if you do not understand something or do not know something, then you can look it up in the theory part of the book. The book contains theory exercises on topics like causal loop diagramming, delays, and how to motivate why SD is appropriate. The book also contains modelling exercises that show students how to build low to medium complexity models, and how to use these quantitative models for scenario or policy analysis. The theory chapters cover all phases of the modelling cycle: problem articulation, conceptualisation, formulation, evaluation (including validation and scenario analysis), and policy analysis. This book is intended for students and educators in large or small System Dynamics courses, and for motivated students that want to learn SD in their own pace.

ICF in Person-centred Rehabilitation

The International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF) is a linking framework for interprofessional collaboration and structuring the needs of a client. The person's functioning is the starting point for person- and goal-oriented iterative rehabilitation, for which ICF applications are needed. This material aims to support the use of the ICF in person-centred rehabilitation and interprofessional practice by offering ICF tools. It is based on the MAGPIED rehabilitation process: Meet, Assess, Goal set, Plan, Implement, Evaluate, and Document. Even though the material follows the rehabilitation model, it can be used by any professionals who uses the ICF. The idea of the material is to offer a short theoretical background, examples, and tools as well as examples of assignments for the reader. It can be used by any professionals as an inspiring package of ICF tools or supporting material when educating the usage of ICF in higher education institutions. For the lectures, the material includes a supplement PowerPoint presentation for the Assess and Plan phases.

Books about bilingual parenting [Season 3, Episode 4]

In this episode we review two books about bilingual parenting: Bilingual success stories around the world by Adam Beck and Bilingual families. A practical language planning guide by Eowyn Crisfield. We get the parental perspective from Maria Papantoniou, a Greek-speaking mother raising her child bilingually in the UK together with her Greek-speaking husband, and Sam Timmermans, a Dutch-speaking father who until recently lived in the UK with his wife and two children. Language scientist Ludovica Serratrice joins me to evaluate the books from a research perspective. Ludovica is Professor of Bi-Multilingualism at the University of Reading in the UK, where she is also Director of the Centre for Literacy and Multilingualism and where she teaches on the BSc in Speech and Language Therapy. Read more about her research on the language development and processing of bilingual children and adults here. In Let’s Klets we speak to Daphne Vlachojannis, mother to three multilingual children, currently living in Greece. She tells us how she went about writing (and re-writing) her family language plan as her family expanded and moved countries. You can read more about Daphne and the work she is doing as a consultant at Raising Bilingual Children here. During this episode I referred to an earlier episode of the podcast with Eowyn. That was our very first episode How to plan for a bilingual child. I also mentioned the Planting Languages project. Their website shares materials in several languages which can be used by parents and professionals to think about which resources are available, the family goals, and many other factors which come into play when writing a family language plan.

Pilot of ICF-based Tools and Practices to Speech Therapists

This material includes ICF-based tools for speech therapists which we developed further after our pilot. In the pilot, we also had ICF training but it was based on the ICF basic course developed during this INPRO project. Coronaria is developing further ICF training, see ICF training to all rehabilitation professionals. This material includes the modified RPS form (only in Finnish) and the very basic subsets for speech therapists working with children and adults. The subsets are developed by speech therapists at Coronaria. The subsets will be further developed in the future along with our ICF training. The materials are in English and partly in Finnish.

This material includes the modified RPS form (only in Finnish) and the ICF rehabilitation set including the minimal set of environmental factors and personal factors with support questions for interviewing. Material includes also the very basic subsets for physiotherapists working with children, adults, adults with neurological diagnoses, and adults with long-term pain. The subsets are developed by physiotherapists at Coronaria. The subsets will be further developed in the future along with our ICF training. The materials are in English and partly in Finnish.
