Introduction to data management as part of Open Science

Data management is part of the research cycle. It is crucial to think about it in the design phase of any experiment. This self-study module gives you hands on advice on what to do (and what NOT) with research data. It is not about (statistical) data analysis. This self-study module helps students get familiar with setting up their data management plan. As it’s an introduction to this topic, it is for students at beginner level. After completing this self-study module, you should be able to answer the following questions: What do I store? Where do I store? How can others understand what I stored? Why should I care?

Routekaart Prevent - Open onderzoek

In deze routekaart vind je uitleg, advies en links naar verdere informatie voor alle stappen van onderzoek, van conceptfase tot publicatie en archivering. Denk dan aan methodieken als cirkelen rond je onderzoek (vraagarticulatie), software waar je makkelijk mee kan samenwerken, hoe om te gaan met student-onderzoekers, citizen science, open, transparant en efficiënt onderzoek uitvoeren, en verantwoord data-management. Deze routekaart is toegespitst op het onderzoek behorend bij het sprongproject PREVENT, maar is uiteraard breder toepasbaar. De informatie is voor iedereen toegankelijk, sommige tools zijn specifiek beschikbaar voor onderzoekers aan de HU of de HvA. Waar beperkte toegang beschikbaar is staat dat expliciet vermeld, waar mogelijk met een generiek alternatief. Deze routekaart is een initiatief vanuit werkpakket kwaliteit van PREVENT, gevoed door vraagstukken vanuit de verschillende werkpakketten en fieldlabs.

Write Your DMP: online module materials

These are the raw materials used in the online training module "Write Your DMP" created within Utrecht University's Moodle platform, by Utrecht University's Research Data Management Support. This module was developed to help Utrecht University researchers to write their Data Management Plan. It is a self-paced module that takes about 1.5 hours to complete. The module is structured as follows: 0: Introduction 1: Prepare: data collection, data reuse, data documentation and metadata 2: Handle: data privacy, security, ownership and storage 3: Share: data preservation, data sharing, FAIR data 4: Evaluation and glossary In the deposit, you can find the following files: The module content in the form of a storyboard per chapter in the online platform (WriteYourDMP_raw_materials_20250509.pdf) Self-created images used in the platform (materials_Ulearning.zip).
