A very short introduction to R

'R' is a programming language for data analysis and statistics. It is free, and very widely used by professional statisticians. It is also very popular in certain application areas, including bioinformatics. R is a dynamically typed interpreted language, and is typically used interactively. It has many built-in functions and libraries, and is extensible, allowing users to define their own functions and procedures using R, C or Fortran. It also has a simple object system. In this github environment one finds ‘A (very) short introduction to R’ from Claudia Brauwer of the Hydrology and Quantitative Water Management Group of WUR. It gives: a base document, interactive excersises, ToDo excersies, software, examples. This introduction is still developing.

In order to make some of my own knowledge and insights easily available I made a collage of short lectures that are available for not just my own students but to anyone who is interested. In this blogpost you can find the links to 8 short introductions. (Blogpost from Blog 'Learning for Sustainability in times of accelerating change' of Arjen Wals)
