In March 2022, the Universities of the Netherlands, the Association of Universities of Applied Sciences and SURF signed the 'National Approach to Digital and Open Learning Resources Statement'. In it, they agreed to work on sharing and reusing educational resources. As a result of the ongoing digitisation of education, Leiden University is also committed to sharing and using educational resources.
Sharing educational resources
More information on sharing educational resources can be found on Sharing open educational resources. Contact the ICT & Education coordinator of your faculty if you want to share your educational resources for reuse.
A number of things are needed to make educational resources openly available to third parties.
- A platform on which the materials are published. In Leiden, we prefer to use edusources.
- Assigning metadata to educational resources. This involves identifying the author, the target group for which the material is intended and the subject matter. See SURF's roadmap for developing educational resources and open sharing.
- Terms of use: this sets out the rights. What can someone else do with your material? We prefer a CC BY-NC-SA licence. Read more about this on the website openaccess.nl.

- The material complies with the copyright rules for open educational resources. More information can be found at the Copyright Information Point.
