Libguide Reference Management

Reference management is systematically collecting and organising concrete sources and/or the bibliographic data ('references') of sources, usually to (re)use them at a later time. Reference management tools help you in collecting and organising references. Good reference management results in a more effective and efficient workflow. This libguide covers three reference management tools: EndNote, Zotero and Mendeley.

Week 8: Organising a Case Competition

This final, high-energy lesson—or event—is all about case-solving competitions between students. Format, rules, and possible schedules are all part of this concluding session. A case competition is an inspiring and effective way to conclude a case-cracking training series. It gives students the opportunity to apply their skills in a high-pressure, real-world setting that fosters focus, teamwork, and clear communication under time constraints. Competitions not only allow for immediate feedback and continuous improvement but also mirror the dynamics of real consulting work, where firms compete for projects. Whether students solve a live business challenge or a simulated case, involving industry professionals as judges adds authenticity and depth to the experience. Including a final round enhances learning for all participants—both those presenting and those observing—and helps generate visibility and excitement around the program, inspiring future engagement.

Student-Stakeholder samenwerking II (Dutch)

This document is a teacher manual for a workshop (duration 2.5 hrs) that aims to support students in their collaboration with stakeholders (part II of two). The context for which the workshop has been designed is ‘regioleren’ which means that students work on real life complex issues aiming at sustainable regional development. Contributing to the issue at hand, requires the collaboration between students and stakeholders from (semi) governmental bodies, NGOs, businesses, etc. The document provides background information on boundary crossing and an elaborate description of the workshop (goals, program, practical details, tips for teachers). The workshop consists of three rounds: 1. Taking stock of the collaboration with stakeholders thus far; 2. Role play on facilitating a (difficult) stakeholder meeting; 3. Organising a (transformative) stakeholder event.

Stakeholder Analysis Toolkit

Login required (free). After login, navigate to the right toolkit. The aim of UNU-MERIT / Maastricht Graduate School of Governance’s Stakeholder Analysis toolkit is to provide a succinct introduction to Stakeholder Analysis, including why and when it is used. Due to the importance of conducting Stakeholder Analysis before undergoing a project or other new initiative, this toolkit targets Public Policy students, alumni, and practitioners who are interested in further understanding how to structure a given project or initiative. However, this toolkit does not provide a step-by-step guide on how to complete a Stakeholder Analysis, and this analysis may be undertaken using various strategies for organising knowledge on stakeholders’ before proceeding with a new initiative. This toolkit is designed as open source material, and does not require university registration or affiliation to view. Furthermore, this toolkit is stand-alone and nontutored. You will not receive a grade or certificate for reviewing this toolkit’s material.
