The Chicken of Tomorrow - Teacher version

In this CBE, we will organize a discussion about the case of the ‘Chicken of Tomorrow’. The goal is to gain insight in the ethical dilemmas that arise in practice related to the environment and animal welfare. We will reconstruct a stakeholder meeting with all relevant parties. The aim of this meeting is to discuss the different perspectives of the stakeholders and to reflect on a possible solution to the problem.

Chapter 3: Bandsaw

This chapter introduces the bandsaw and its use in an educational woodworking shop. It explains the main components and functions of the machine, including the blade, wheels, guides, blade guard and work table. The chapter covers safe setup and operation for straight and curved cuts, including blade selection, tension, guide adjustment, workpiece positioning and feed rate. It also addresses relief cuts for tight curves and common safety hazards. A practical exercise demonstrates how to use the bandsaw to cut the shape of a wooden push stick.
